This car was the 7th public use GT350R model delivered in May 1965 to Mr. Ned Owen of Malvern, PA. It’s first race was the Watkins Glenn Double 500 in 1965. In 1966 it had a first place victory at Bridgehampton. It went on racing in several SCCA national events in the northeast. The car was later acquired by a Canadian racer who used it up until 1969 when he crashed it. After the crash it had been parked in a barn where it would sit for over a decade. In 1981 Rick Kopec would purchase the car sight unseen and it would undergo a 7 year period correct restoration. Rick would race the car in literally hundreds of vintage races spanning over 50 tracks. The car was also famously driven by Carrol Shelby & Peter Brock in racing and charity events. In 2007 the car hit the auction block at Monterey. Being a well known car that has won or finished in the top spots at most major US raceways it was estimated to bring $800,000-$1,000,000. At auction the estimated sale proved to be accurate and it raked in $852,500.
